Design of smile

Aesthetic smile design in Istanbul with digital simulation and personalized planning.

Smile design is a multi-step aesthetic process in which the color, shape, size, gum line and proportions of the face are evaluated as a whole. It applies to people who are unhappy with their smile due to yellowed, broken, spaced, disproportionate or damaged gum teeth. At our Mecidiyeköy and Esenyurt clinics in Istanbul, we visualize the expected result with digital photo analysis and 3D simulation before starting treatment.

Smile design is not a single treatment, but a plan that includes more than one application as needed. Depending on the patient, porcelain laminate veneers, zirconium crowns, gum aesthetics, or professional whitening may be part of this plan. With our in-clinic digital laboratory infrastructure, all stages of design, production and application are managed in a single center; This shortens the process and allows for physician supervision at every step.

Smile design is not just a visual enhancement; This may also include functional improvements such as correcting malocclusions and protecting gum health. Treatment results can be retained for many years, depending on the type of restoration chosen and maintenance habits.

Frequently asked questions

01 Are the teeth cut into a smile shape?

It depends entirely on the type of restorations included in the plan. Even if a very small amount of tooth surface is prepared for the porcelain veneer, more extensive preparation may be necessary for the application of a zirconium crown. During the digital simulation stage, detailed information is provided to you by determining in advance which treatment will be applied and how much dental tissue will be worked.

02 Are the results of smile design permanent?

This depends on the restorative material used and your maintenance habits. Porcelain laminate and zirconium crowns can be used for 10 to 15 years or more with proper care. Regular dental check-ups and oral hygiene play a decisive role in maintaining long-term results.

03 In what cases is smile design carried out?

Conditions such as a change in tooth color, broken or worn teeth, gaps between teeth, disproportionate or crooked teeth, excessive or uneven appearance of the gums are common indications for smile design. Additionally, aesthetic issues related to malocclusion can also be addressed in this context. The clinical examination determines whether your condition is suitable for planning.

04 Can smile design be done in one session?

No. Designing a smile is a process consisting of several stages. Simulation and planning sessions, preliminary applications and actual restorations require separate visits. The entire process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the size of the case. Intensive visit planning can also be carried out for patients coming from abroad.

05 Is there any pain or tenderness after smile design?

As local anesthesia is applied in stages requiring dental preparation, no pain is felt during the procedure. A slight sensitivity which may persist for a few days after the anesthesia ends is considered normal. In case of prolonged or intense pain, it is recommended to inform your clinic.

06 Is there any preparation required before smile design?

Yes. Oral health must be ready for treatment; Problems such as active gingivitis, cavities or broken teeth are addressed first. In addition, professional scaling and, if necessary, whitening are carried out before planning the restoration colors. All of these preparations are determined as part of the treatment plan.
